Mr. Rufus Merle Walker, 78, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Health Center of Lake City. He was born in Wellborn, Florida to the late George and Annie [Crews] Walker and has lived here all his life. Rufus was a loving husband, father, grand and great grandfather who enjoyed being outdoors and sharing his time with his family. He loved the Lord and was a faithful member of White Springs Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and by several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his loving wife of 59 years, Della J. Walker; sons, Kenneth (Melinda) Walker and Kevin (Laryssa) Walker; daughters, Kathy (Wes) Faris and Shaundi Walker all of Lake City, FL; sister Emma Jean Callahan of Lulu, FL; grandchildren, Dan (Stefanie) Register, Wendy (Brian) Saunders, Trent (Christina) Walker, and Kaitlin Walker; great grandchildren, Cameron, Alexis, Bryant, Jaxston, and Blayne.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brandon Witt officiating. Interment will follow in Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Nature Coast, 150 North Main Street, High Springs, Florida. 32643.
