Robert Paul Molosso, 99 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, September 20, 2017 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.
He was born in Vineland, New Jersey to the late Joseph and Theresa Fiori Molosso. Mr. Molosso had made his home in Lake City since 1980 and was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church. He attended the Valley Forge Military Academy in Wayne, Pennsylvania and was a combat veteran of the United States Army serving from 1942-1946 during WWII in the Pacific Theatre. Mr. Molosso attended the Illinois College of Chiropody earning a surgical degree. He was a successful business owner in Mt Holly, New Jersey. After selling his business he moved to Lake City in 1980 and started his retirement “part-time job” at Publix Supermarkets. Approximately 20 years later he retired at the age of 92 respected by all who knew him. Mr. Molosso loved golf, cooking on the grill, surf fishing and spending time with family and his friends. Mr. Molosso was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Molosso and his sister, Josephine Halverson.
Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Gloria F. Molosso, Lake City; his son, Colonel Mike Molosso (Michelle), U.S. Army, Retired, Columbia, SC; his daughter, Terri Molosso Fiocca (Michael), Huntington Valley, PA; four grandchildren, Matthew R. Molosso ( Jennifer), Michael R. Fiocca, Katie Fiocca and Morgan Molosso; and one great grandchild, Maura Molosso.
A funeral mass will be conducted on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Robert Trujillo officiating. Interment will follow with full military honors at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM at the funeral home with a Rosary service starting at 5:30 in the funeral home chapel. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations (checks only) be made in the name of Mr. Molosso to the Robert Jenkins Veterans Domiciliary 751 SE Sycamore Terrace, Lake City, Fl 32055.
