Joanne Marie Shaw

Joanne Marie Shaw, resident of Lake Butler, Florida, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016 at the age of 79.  Joanne was born to Ben and Virginia Georgeson on May 11, 1937 in Madison, Wisconsin.  Joanne spent her earlier adult years in Fort Lauderdale, Florida as co-owner of Griffin Lake Retirement Community with her then husband Roger Sessler.  After 15 years they decided to retire and move to Lake Butler, Florida.  Joanne enjoyed her days on their farm raising horses and cattle.  Years later after separating from Mr. Sessler, she remarried Mr. Joe Shaw.  Joanne’s battle with cancer started over thirty years ago.  For most that would have been a debilitating death sentence; however for those who knew Joanne, that was not the case.  She drew from an abundance of strength, bravery and peace that came from her Lord’s sovereign grace and sustaining power.  On the day of her fatal diagnosis with no hope of medical treatment, she was not left without hope.  Her hope was in her savior, Jesus Christ, who she would soon see face to face.  Joanne spoke with excitement of those she would see who had gone before her to be with the Lord. 

She is survived by her daughter, Liz Tuggle, grandchildren, Whitney (David) Loria, Eli (Kristina) Tuggle, great-grandchidlren, Amos Loria, Reid Loria, Jackson Loria and Elena Tuggle and loving relatives, the Kovars and the Georgesons.

A memorial service for Ms. Shaw will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Lake Butler with Pastor Jason Johns officiating.  Ms. Shaw will be privately interred at Dekle Cemetery in Lake Butler.
