Mr. George Evan Perry, 71 of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 at his home following a brief illness. He was born in Miami, Florida to the late George Alvin and Hazel LaVerne Hill Perry. Mr. Perry had made his home in Lake City since 1971 having moved here from Miami. He was a graduate of Southwest Miami High School class of 1962 and also Miami-Dade Junior College. He served in the United States Air Force from 1962-1966. He then taught vocational education at Columbia High School, Lake City Middle School, and Fort White High School over the course of 39 years. He retired in 2009. Mr. Perry had the ability to work on just about anything from cars to airplanes and he was very accomplished in carpentry. He was an avid hunter, enjoyed fishing and farming, and loved helping others.
Survivors include his wife, Emma R. Perry, Lake City; his children, Julie Perry, Lake City, Keith Perry (Shelley), Tifton, GA, Lee Brinkley (Cindy) and Michael Brinkley both of Lake City; two sisters, LaVerne Evachek, Ft. White and Blue Childers (Charlie), Hayden, ID; 10 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Old Country Club Road in Lake City. Visitation with the family will be Tuesday evening, May 31, 2016, from 5-7:00 PM at GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME
