Crandall Bales, 95 of Lake City, passed away on Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Lake City Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center with his family at his side. He was born on September 13, 1922 in Coolidge, Georgia to the late James William H. Bales and Fannie Mae Underwood Bales. He lived most of his life in the Wellborn Community and was a member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Mr. Bales volunteered and served in World War II in the United States Army Air Corp. He worked for 35 years with Metal Products in Lake City and he enjoyed working on his family farm. Mr. Bales had many hobbies including woodworking, fishing, hunting and gardening. He was preceded in death by one brother, Walter Bales, and two sisters, Jencie Laing and Sara Bailey.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Ernestine Law Bales, Lake City; two sons, Richard C. Bales, Sr. (Becky) and Roland Bales (Sheryl) both of Wellborn; one daughter, Britney M. Bales, Lake City; six grandchildren, Kimberly Nunziata (Rich), Winter Park, FL, Ricky Bales, Lake City, John Bales, San Antonio, TX, Jesse Burnett (Kenny), Lake City, Ben Hope, Homestead, FL and Jacob Lewis, Lake City; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, 5314 98th Terr., Live Oak, FL 32060, with Mr. Dwight Law and Rev. Wally Weaver, Pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the church cemetery with military honors. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 10-11:00 AM.
