Dear Scaff Family, friends, and Lake City residents,

I am sorry to hear of Lester’s passing and our loss. I had the privilege of working with Lester for several years during the sale of S&S. I have never met a finer Gentleman. He had many traits that made him a successful business man and a great leader who cared for his employees and the greater Lake City communities. But his greatest characteristic was his unwavering Christian Faith in God.

More than once I arrived at his office where he would greet me with a question about scripture or ask me to explain a doctrine of his recently adopted Catholic Faith. These challenging encounters always left me thinking about my Faith and relationship with God and man.

My prayer is Lester’s Faith prepared all of us for his passing and his communion with God in heaven. God bless all of us. To Lester, thank you for your friendship and inspiring my Faith.

Joe

Lester was a very special man: smart, kind, honorable, and loyal. He always made me and Nicholas especially feel like part of the family. He was very kind to me when I was sick and I will never forget it. We have lost a wonderful man who left an amazing legacy for his community, his employees, his family and his friends. I know he has joined Ann now. But he will be missed. Love you Lester. It was my honor to know you.

My Prayers and Blessings to all of the family of Mr Lester. He treated people with respect and in his country way could talk to you like he knew you all your life. Never an unkind word or look. Hard working, with common sense, and a desire to make the business the best it could be. He was a Honorable man. I can only hope that he be remembered for the good deeds, his sense of humor, and the True Business Man he was. I only pray that God will heal all of the hearts and souls of his loved ones ---I will see you Mr Lester--You are Respected and Loved---That is one of the greatest testimony's given to us on this earth.--You Made A Difference!--GB---TM (Telephone Man)

So sorry for your loss.

Lester Scaff was a wonderful man and I was honored to have known him as a customer and friend. Many times I was at the office in Lake City and Lester would see me and invite me to his office. Lester was always soft-spoken, honest and fair. Lester made everyone feel welcome and would listen carefully before responding. Lester was an outstanding Leader, Businessman and contributed very gracefully to charities. I thank God for the opportunity to have known and worked with such a great man.

Sincerely,
Charlie and Patty Webb

Lester was my classmate from our time together at old Jasper, Florida High School graduating over 62 years ago in 1954. I speak for all our classmates in saying that Lester was then and continued to be one of the finest men we have ever known. There were about 30 of us in a small class, depression era babies, none were very prosperous, so we had a group that were much like brothers and sisters in comradeship. Lester was very much a part of that spirit of fraternity. We held 10 of the last 12 reunions at his farm house where he was a genial host. As a modest example of his kind spirit, always had a bucket of boiled peanuts since he knew some of us lived where you couldn't find them. I could go at some length but suffice it to say his classmates loved that man. Lester was a true southern gentleman from the beginning and unto the end. Farewell my brother. May God hold you and Anne in his arms.

Dear Scaff family,
My heartfelt sympathy to you in the loss if a truly wonderful man. Mr. Scaff will be issued by so many, myself included. I will miss the quiet little conversations in his stores, that he took the time to just talk for a few moments to one of his loyal customers....me. I appreciate those talks too, stories of growing up in North Florida and how much Lake City has grown. Stories of his first store and all the time we as kids spent there. I will miss this strong quiet man. In my eyes he was a gentle giant and I respected him and Ms. Anne so much. God bless you and comfort you family, and please know that all of us who were blessed to know Mr. Scaff will truly miss him.

I am so sorry for your loss.

Mr. Scaff was a fine man and it was an honor to work with him through the S & S transition. I will miss calling him for advice and guidance - not only in business but just life in general. He was always willing to help any way he could and always had your best interest at heart.

I will never forget the words of encouragement he gave me when I lost my son and how patient he was with me when I was deep in the valley of grief. We both lost loved ones during this time and I do find comfort knowing that he and Mrs. Anne are together again.

To the family (these are the same words of encouragement Mr Scaff gave me): lean on your faith - God will provide you with peace and comfort and your loved ones that have gone on before you would want you to keep living your life and not be sad.

To my friend Lester - I'm going to miss you old buddy and will always cherish the memories!

Aaron
