Rev. Charles Roscoe Knight, Jr., 89 of Fort White, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2017 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. Rev. Knight was born in Wellborn, Florida the second of five children to the late Charles Roscoe Knight and Gladys Law Knight. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and a life long resident of North Florida. He was in the restaurant business in Jacksonville and he also owned the Kit Kat Club in Lake City. Rev. Knight was called into the ministry in 1966 at pastored eight churchs in Florida and retired with 43 years of ministry due to his health. He was currently a member of Elim Baptist Church in Fort White. Rev. Knight enjoyed gardening and fishing when able. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Baker, in 2009.
Survivors include his wife, Martha C. Knight, Fort White; five sons, Charles Roscoe “Rocky” Knight, III (Jennifer), High Springs, Bill Baker Jr. (Toni), Suwannee County, Russell E. Baker, Lake City, Thomas Edward Henry (Zola), Lake City and Franklin John Henry (Joni), Orlando; eight grandchildren, Brittany Ward (Brad), Kala Knight and Jordyn Knight all of Lake Butler, Memyia, Noah and Kyle Baker, and Joshua and Jolie Henry of Lake City; two great grandchildren, Avery Hope Ward and Liam Knight Ward.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Wellborn with Rev. Ron Thompson and Rocky Knight officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6-8:00 PM Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
