Joseph William Key 73, of Lake City Fl, passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2016, at the VA Medical Center in Lake City following complications from a motor vehicle accident late last August.
Born on August 2, 1943 in Key West, Fl. Class of '61 “Conch”, to the late Arnold Key and Virginia Brady. Mr. Key proudly served his country in the US Army during Vietnam Jan 66 to Aug 67. He was a dedicated President of the Lake Butler Social Club and was a member of the American Legion post 57. He was a kind hearted man who always had high spirits and enjoyed life. He loved to dance and was a loving father and grandfather, Who will be missed by many. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Judith L. Key, and his brother Kenneth Arnold Key.
Mr. Key is survived by his children; Amanda Hawkes, Melissa R. Paitsel, Jennifer Dollar, Scott Roppolo, his grandchildren; Joseph W. Hawkes, Maddison N. Hawkes, Hunter Paitsel, Hannah Paitsel, Kayla Bloom, Cole Dollar, Talan Roppolo, and Brayden Roppolo.
A Memorial service for Mr. Key will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, September 2, 2016 at the American Legion Post 57 in Lake City, Fl. Arrangements are under the direction of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME, 3596 S US Hwy 441, Lake City, Fl., 32055, (386) 752-1954.
