William Clyde Nelson, 58, of Lake City, passed away on Wednesday, November 1, 2023 at his residence. He was born in La Grange, GA on August 19, 1965 to the late William Clarence Nelson and Helen Marie McCubbins Nelson. He moved to Palm Beach, FL in the early 1970s and graduated from the John I. Leonard High School in Lake Worth, FL in 1983. He moved to the Lake City/Live Oak area in the late 1980s and has remained in the area since. He worked for the Advent Christian Village (Good Samaritan Center) in Dowling Park, FL for over 25 plus years as a CNA. He loved his career as a CAN, always talking about his co-workers and residents he worked with and cared for over the years.
He was truly a compassionate man, who would do anything for anybody. He never met an enemy. He devoted the majority of his life to caring and taking care of others. Some of his hobbies included watching football, NASCAR, fishing, animals, and enjoying company with his family and friends.
He is survived by his brother, James Scott Nelson (Jessica D. Nelson) of Morrilton, Ark.; his nephew, Jason S. Nelson of Gainesville and his niece, Melissa L. Nelson of Lake City.
A memorial service for Mr. Nelson will be held at the Advent Christian Village, Goof Samaritan Center with the date, time and location to be announced at a later date. He will be laid to rest in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
