Wallace Howard Christie, Sr.

Wallace Howard Christie, Sr., 80 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, January 7, 2019 at the Lake City Medical Center following a brief illness.  He was a lifelong resident of Lake City and a son to the late Harry Daniel Christie and Ethel Mae Lee Christie.  Mr. Christie was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1956 and he retired from the Florida National Guard with 30 years of service.  He was a longtime member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church and enjoyed golfing and shooting in his spare time.  Mr. Christie was preceded in death in 2014 by his wife of 35 years, Janet Marie Drews Christie. 

Survivors include one son, Wallace H. Christie, Jr. (Tori), Hahira, GA; two daughters, Lyn Irvin (Jimmy), Day, FL and Sherri Felkel (Rodger), Valdosta, GA; one sister, Rubye Smedley (Jeff), Lake City; seven grandchildren, Michael Driver, Lake City, Jeremy Driver (Sarah), Day, FL, Alan Driver, Norfolk, VA, Bryan Felkel (Mia), Hahira, GA, Bradley Felkel, Valdosta, GA and Natalie Christie and Elizabeth Christie both of Hahira, GA; five great-grandchildren, Olivia, Carly and Jett Driver, Lilly Driver and Brayden Felkel; one nephew, Chris Yarborough (Jami), Lake City and his children, Jordan, Jace, Jaeger, Jasper and Jersey; one niece, Angie Martin (Bill), Gainesville, and her children, Billy and Jacob; and his beloved dog and faithful companion, “Lucy”.

Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church with Pastor Kevin Hall officiating.  Interment will follow at Memorial Cemetery.  Visitation with the family will be from 5-7:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church at 1272 SW McFarlane Ave, Lake City, FL 32025.
