Violet Green Seay, 102, was born on January 26, 1920 in the Greenfield area of Lake City, Florida to George W. & Arie B. Green. She passed away in her sleep in November 11, 2022 under Hospice Care at Solaris Healthcare in Lake City, where she had been recovering from a broken leg since last November.
She came from a very close family of 8 siblings, sisters, Elsie North, Maude Hurst, Fanny Barton, Nellie Coffee and brothers, Julian Pierce “J.P.” Green, Arnold “Jack” Green and William “Calvin” Green. All including her husband of 63 years, Sam W. Seay, Sr., preceded her in death.
She leaves behind her son, Sam (Carole) Seay, Jr. of Titusville; grandson, Michael (Meagan) Seay of Titusville; numerous nieces & nephews and her special friend and caregiver, Donna Hattaway of Lake City.
She graduated from Columbia High School, class of 1937, and went on to get correspondence certificates in Book Keeping, short hand and others. During WWII, she & her sister, Nellie, moved to Jacksonville to work in the war efforts as Book Keepers where in 1945, she met her future husband returning from Europe and started her small family. Over the years, she moved with her husband from Jacksonville to Myrtle Beach, SC to Fitzgerald, GA to Titusville, FL, then back to Jacksonville before returning to Lake City in 1983 to retire.
She dearly loved her family and family reunions, her church, reading, studying history and flowers. She never had ill will against anybody or anything. She never wanted to bother anyone else with her problems, even to the use of 911 calls. She was an inspiration to all of us on how to lead our lives with God. Not many people can live as exemplary a life as she did for 102 years. She will be missed.
