Violet Church Foster, 88, of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday morning, August 1, 2023 at the HCA Florida- Lake City Hospital after a brief illness. She was born in Wilkes County, North Carolina on April 12, 1935 to the late Cecil Church and Mildred Whittington Church. She has made the Lake City area her home for the last 20 years, moving here from the Titusville, Florida area. She worked in retail sales for the better part of 35 years while also being a homemaker. She was of the Baptist faith and was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Lake City. In her spare time, she enjoyed going on cruises, traveling, she had been to 49 states and even to some of them multiple times. She also loved going RV’ing with her family, playing cards and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, Arby Claxton Foster; daughter, Kristin Rae Bolter; brothers, Cecil Ralph Church & Rex Lee Church; and her sisters, Shelba Jean Church & Judith Sherock.
She is survived by her daughters, Angela Hiner (Jon) of Lake City & Pamela Cook (Tim) of Boone, NC; brother, Kenneth Reece Church (Shelia) of Titusville; sister, Carol McNeil of Wilkesboro, NC; brother-in-law, Lloyd Church of Wilkesboro, NC. Five grandchildren, Justin Haynes (Julie), Alyssa Bolter, Jessica Hiner Martino (Mark), Matthew Cook & Family and Joshua Cook & Family; two great-grandchildren, Justus Haynes and Jace Haynes; along with many nieces and nephews also survive.
A funeral service for Mrs. Foster will be conducted on Saturday, August 5, 2023 at 3:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Hugh Sherrill officiating. Interment will follow in the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. in Titusville, FL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 2:00 P.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
