Vera Mae Rhoden, 87, of Lake City, passed away on Friday morning, March 5, 2021 at the Solaris Healthcare Center after an extended illness. She was born on April 29, 1933 to the late John Henry Nelson and Eva Mae Law. She has lived most of her life in the Lake City area and was a homemaker all of her life. She was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church and was the oldest living member of the church. She loved singing in the church choir, drawing and playing with her grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Joel Rhoden; son, John Michael Rhoden; great-grandson, Hunter Glover and four brothers, George, David, Richard and Billy Nelson.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Rhoden (Katrina) and Donna Rhoden both of Lake City; daughter-in-law, Terri Rhoden of Lake City; sister, Earline Touchtone of Georgia. Six grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services for Mrs. Rhoden will be conducted on Monday, March 8, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Edenfield officiating. Interment will follow.
