Ret. Lieutenant Commander, USN, Tandy Warren Carter, Sr., 96 of Lake City, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2022 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. He was born in Bessemer, Alabama to the late Edmond Hobdy Carter, Jr. and Anna Mae Todd Carter. Mr. Carter attended the Starke Military School in Birmingham, Auburn University, Alabama Polytechnic Institute and earned his Master’s Degree from the Monterey Peninsula Naval Post Graduate School. He served our country in the United States Navy and retired at the rank of Lieutenant Commander. Mr. Carter had made his home in Lake City since 1998 and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 64 years, Caroline Jones Carter; and one son, Tandy Warren “Bud” Carter, Jr.
Survivors include his two sons, William “Bill” Carter (Emily), Middleburg, FL and Edmond Hobdy Carter, III (Debbie), Granite Falls, NC; five grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
A memorial service honoring Mr. Carter’s life will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake City on Thursday, January 19, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Interment with military honors will follow at the church columbarium.
