Mrs. Sharon D. Tuning, 74, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Friday morning, April 6, 2018 at the Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center after an extended illness. She was born in Washington State on December 27, 1943 to Harold LaShure and Margaret LaShure. She has lived in the Lake City area since the summer of 1994, moving here from Philippi, West Virginia. She was a nursery worker for the Broaddus Hospital in Philippi, West Virginia for many years, where she loved working with all the new born babies. She loved to bowl and was a member of a ladies bowling team for several years. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, traveling, seeing new places and visiting family and friends. She also attended Parkview Baptist Church here in Lake City.
She is survived by her loving husband of 49 ½ years; George Tuning of Lake City; son; Max Slate of New York; granddaughter; Casey Slate of North Carolina, sister; Laura of New York and brother-in-law; James E. Tuning of West Virginia also survives.
Funeral services for Mrs. Tuning will be conducted on Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Tatem, Pastor of Parkview Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 10:00-11:00 A.M. (one hour prior to the services) at the funeral home.
