Sharon Elaine Hiatt Koontz, 79, former resident of Alachua, FL, passed away on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville after an extended illness. She was born in Maysville, KY and moved to Alachua in 1971. She was an employee of Lake Butler Apparel until their closure; and was active with her Husband Robert in Pop Warner Football for many years. She enjoyed reading, drawing and arts and crafts. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Robert Wayne Koontz; her parents, James William Hiatt, Sr. and Juanita Irene Moore Hiatt; her sister, Teresa Kay Hiatt; two grandchildren, Christopher and Jennifer Watterly and one great-granddaughter, Samantha Steele.
She is survived by her children, Tracy Cocking (Walter, Jr.) of Middleburg, FL, Kimberly Steinway (Timothy) of Danville, IN, Bobbie Steele (Jackie) of Fort White, FL, Sabrina Bellock (Richard, Jr.) of Aliquippa, PA and Robert E. Watterly (Tammy) of Ohio; Two sisters, Judy M. Nye of Ohio and Connie J. Jarrels of Ohio; one brother, James W. Hiatt, Jr. (Roxann) of Ohio. Twenty-three grandchildren, fifty great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
