Ronald C. “Kerley” Kerley, 77 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City. He was born in Lithia Springs, Georgia to the late Hubert Charles Kerley and Lydia Faye Mosley Kerley. Mr. Kerley had made his home in Lake City since 1986 having previously lived Georgia. He was an accomplished pit master and had won numerous awards for his Barbeque including the best in the State of Georgia in 1985. Mr. Kerley owned several restaurants thru the years including “Doogie’s Barbeque” on US 90 West and the “Rib Shack” on US 41 south of Lake City and currently Kerley’s Barbeque in front of Morrells on Deputy Jeff Davis Lane. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed deer and big game hunting. Mr. Kerley was preceded in death by one son, Jimmy Samrov; five siblings, Miles Kerley, Melvin Kerley, Betty Jensen, Judy Kerley and Frankie Jo Norman.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Marylan Kerley, Lake City; four children, Frank Capallia (Dana), Lake City, Pamela Roach, White Springs, Kerry Kerley, Lake City and Crystal Ratliff (Robin), Lake City; one brother, Donald Kerley (Jean), White Springs; three sisters, Patsy Ramsey, Lake City, Nonnie Woodard, Millidgeville, GA and Cherie Golden (Robert), Panama City; 8 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren also survive.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 15, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Interment will follow. Visitation with the family will be prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
