Rev. Paul Edwin Malone, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, January 19, 2023 with his family by his side after a brief illness. He was born in Fitzgerald, Georgia on April 14, 1930 to the late Bennet Young Malone and Lillie May Johnson Malone. He has made Lake City his home since 1999, moving here from the Green Cove Springs/Orange Park area. He was a US Air Force Veteran, serving as a Combat Veteran during the Korean conflict. He retired from the Department of Defense after 35 years of service, where he earned many accolades and awards. He has been an Ordained Minister since the early 1970’s, and Pastored several churches in Florida, Georgia and Louisiana. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and working in his yard. He was also a member of the Northside Baptist Church in Lake City. Rev. Malone is preceded in death by his son in 1985, Paul E. Malone, II; and his siblings, Melvin, Marion, Lawrence & Bennett Malone, Evelyn Shore, Myrtle Westbrook and Gladys Taylor.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Ethel Malone and his son, Mark E. Malone both of Lake City. Many extended family members, friends and church family also survive.
The family will have a time of visitation at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home in Lake City on Tuesday evening, January 24, 2023 from 5:00-7:00 P.M.. A funeral service for Rev. Malone will follow on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. in the Jacksonville Memory Gardens Cemetery & Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Burl Harkey officiating. A private family interment will follow.
