Philip B. Chance, age 66 of Lake City FL, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, June 29, 2021. He was born in Memphis TN on May 29, 1955, the oldest son of Clarence and Wilda Chance. Phil lived the majority of his younger years in the Memphis area near his beloved grandparents and cousins where he did carpentry work, specializing in interior finishing. Later in life, Phil moved to Daytona FL for a short time, working security at the Americana Condominiums and helping with Hurricane Relief in the area. He eventually made his way to Coastal Mississippi after Hurricane Katrina, working construction during the Coast’s rebuild and then retiring. When his mother passed away in 2019, he moved to Lake City, FL to be near his parent’s old family home. Through the years, Philip’s favorite hobbies were fishing, hunting, smoking ribs, brisket and hosting fish fry's, and growing that ever elusive perfect tomato.
Philip was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, both his parents, Clarence and Wilda Chance, and his oldest daughter, Sasha Chance.
He leaves behind his brother Lane Chance, his sisters Phylis Sharp and Cynthia Chance-Stimson, along with daughters, grandchildren, cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends.
