Peyton Cleveland Obituary

Peyton Chase Cleveland, 29, of Lake City, Florida, the handsome, smart, strong, fearless and beloved son of Alisha Chase Norton Strait (Bejay Murray) and Jon Daniel Cleveland, passed away unexpectedly, shockingly, and unknowingly on Saturday, June 26th, 2021. Peyton was the first born grandson to his loving and grieving grandparents, Richard and Anne Tucker “Noni and Pappy” of Lake City, who referred to him as their “Stallion” grandson, Donna Jean Cleveland, Lake City, and Janice Norton Sutton (Tonie). Great grandmother Roslyn Smith of Live Oak. He was preceded in death and we know he was greeted with open arms by grandfathers James Henry Norton “Papa Henry”, Lester Cleveland, “Papa” and Charles Hart. Great grand-parents Vernon and Lilian Norton “Pop and Ma”.

Peyton Chase “Pey Pey” “Nuka Nukina” was born at the Women’s Center in Gainesville Florida at 3:46pm on the afternoon of May 6th, 1992, after a long and grueling 18 hour intensive labor that resulted in a healthy, chunky, beautiful and happy 8lb. 6oz baby boy. Peyton lived an exuberant life in his short 29 years that many will not experience in over 80 years of life.

Peyton left this earth being the proud big brother of Alec James Norton, whom he affectionately referred to as “Baby Jesus” and “Alexis”. He often said Alec made him want to be a better man, and that Alec’s graduation from college as a Civil Engineer was one the proudest moments of his life. He leaves a loving younger brother Seth Cleveland, whom he enjoyed giving a hard time.

The legacy of Peyton is left within his three beautiful and cherished children, whom he adored and he will watch over them as he is the biggest and strongest Angel In heaven. First born son, Clayton James Cleveland, 6 yrs. old of Live Oak, mother Rachel Hingson , precious son Bodhi Chase Cleveland, 4yrs. old of Live Oak, mother Alexis Hancock, and only Daughter, Addison Rose Cleveland, 1yrs.old of Lake City, mother Amberlyn Jones.

Peyton was so proud of Clayton’s athletic abilities and strong physique which was identical to Peyton’s at that age, and he could not wait to see the up and coming  sporting activities of his very beloved and adored son Bodhi Chase, who carried his middle name “Chase” three generations. He was so funny and entertaining and to see Peyton pull up in his big black truck and get out with his big, manly, burly and loud mannerisms to open the back door to see his “baby girl Addi” in a girly car seat and all her girly clothes, bows and pink stuff everywhere. He said the bass in his truck put her to sleep.

If you knew Peyton, you loved Peyton, or you feared Peyton, or you sat back and said he was a damn force of nature to be reckoned with. He was dangerous, fun, unpredictable, mischievous, charming and with the best sense of humor of anyone in the room. He could make you laugh and cry all at the same time.

Peyton loved big trucks, motorcycles, fast cars and even faster women. Peyton loved a good time. He was a lover at heart and a man’s man. He loved to work and he loved to shoot guns, was an excellent marksman and he actually enjoyed the physical and competitive aspect of everything he did. He was blessed with more God-given strength and brute force and ability than anyone we knew. Peyton was an excellent communicator and skilled at writing. He often times asked for good advice from his close companions but he rarely took it. Peyton was a formidable opponent in any activity he participated in.

Peyton loved and appreciated all sports but especially his Florida Gators, marking his admiration with his Florida “F” tattoo. Peyton loved food; he ate more food than any other human being we knew. He was messy when he ate too, always leaving lids off sauces and making messes in the kitchen. He ate Lea & Perrins Worcestershire sauce, A1 Sauce and hot sauce on everything he ate. If he did dishes, we would look around for months to see where he put them away at because he was just so Nilly willy and nonchalant about things. It’s not a big deal “Ma” he would say.

Peyton had many goals. His recent desires were to sell his home and continue his education to become a Nurse Practitioner. He was so smart and damn sure could have accomplished any goal he set out to do. It is also crucial and so important for our family to relay that we know Peyton alsobattled many demons he fought so hard to overcome. Mental health is so importantand we implore everyone who loves someone who is suffering from emotional, physical or psychological trauma to please please please move mountains to make sure they receive the proper treatments necessary to help them. Navigating a life with someone who is experiencing pain is the hardest battle and heartbreak.

Peyton leaves behind many loved ones including but certainly not limited to his step father of many years Bubba Norton, Uncle Duane, Aunt Tanya, Aunt Brandi, Aunt Denise, Uncle Chip, Aunt Shannon, Charese and Jack, step sister Lesli Strait Proveaux, Blake Murray, Dylan Murray, many special and loving cousins, Krissy Johns, Kameron Boyd, Karson Boyd, Riley Rose Karlton, Hannah, Lily Lee,  Braxton, Tyler and many special lifelong friends, Chad Strait, Trae Roberts, Craig Chewning, Kaleb Giebeig, Genna Bonesio, Taylor Bass, Tracy Davenport and please forgive us if your not mentioned but know he loved so hard and was so loved by so very many.
