Noffie “Nick” Lee Carter, Sr., 75, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday evening, December 6, 2020. He was born in Wayne, West Virginia on November 17, 1945 to the late Clarence Carter and Virginia Pauley. He has made the Lake City area his home for over 50 years and worked for a period of time with the AREO Corporation and TDT here in Lake City until ill health forced him to retire. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching football; eating at KFC, gossiping, sitting on his front porch drinking coffee and watching the traffic go by. He is preceded in death by his son, Noffie Lee Carter, Jr. and ex-wife, Myrtle Jean Carter.
He is survived by his children, Brenna Hewett (Chris) of Lake City, Brenda Lancaster (Andy) of Silver Dale, Washington, Lillian “Dill” Carter of Lake City, Nikki Huggins (Steve) of Lake City and Nick Allen Carter of West Virginia; step-sons, Daniel Gruber of Lake City and Clifford Carter Boyette of Lake City; grandchildren, Nick Brady, Joseph Roberson, Megan Hewett, Whittney Roberson (Tim), Brandan Ward (Kelsey), Brittney Weaver (Dustin) and Lacey Lancaster. Ten great-grandchildren, with baby Kaizlee on the way, and his sister, Bobby Carter also survive.
Memorial services for Mr. Carter will be held privately by his family at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
