Joseph Michael “Mike” Greene, 74, of Fort White, passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021, at the North Florida Regional Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Eustis, Florida on July 10, 1947, to the late Joseph Monroe Greene and Frances Jones Greene. He was a United States Army Veteran, who served during the Vietnam War in 1970. He along with his wife owned and operated the G&H Food Store in Branford for many years, after which he worked and then retired from the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office. Mike was a special guy, and all who knew and loved him, got to witness a rare side of Mike that not many knew, the “Greene humor”.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Margaret “Maggie” Hudson Greene of Fort White; two children, David Cleveland Greene (Nicole) of Evanston, Illinois, and Jessica Greene Finch (Kevin) of Welaka, Florida; three grandchildren, David Michael Green (Kinsey), Averi Rose Greene of Ohio and Kevin Dean Finch, Jr., of St. Augustine; two great-grandchildren, Addison Tate, and Emery Rose Greene; and one brother, Steven Allen Greene (Sharon) and their daughter Stephanie and her two sons, Logan and Lincoln.
A private family memorial service will be held by Mike’s family at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under the direction and care of GATEWAY-FOREST LAWN FUNERAL HOME.
