I first met Jay stopping by to visit my mother, who worked at Madeira Beach Post Office as a window clerk. My Stepdad was a fellow Letter Carrier there…. the Jeep days! Later on when I became an employee and transferred into Dunedin in 86’ Jay was my coworker until his retirement. Loved Jays satirical sense of humor…. and his “Pee Wee” laugh! I remember he found a great love in Shirley, and suffered a great loss in her passing. I remember him redoing the wood floors in his Dunedin bungalow and Roxanne, his Rhodesian Ridgeback. If you wanted to get under his crawl ….you just had to call him “Jaybird”! I enjoyed being his T6 (Carrier in his day off) for many years. It was a pleasure to have known Jay. I had the utmost respect for him.

I met Jay when he was relocating to Lake City after retiring from the post office. I sold him his current home and helped him with another investment property. We stayed in touch for a while and I was always fond of him. I last saw him just before Christmas when I stopped by with a bag of candy and card for Christmas. He mentioned then he was going through another treatment. I'm sorry to hear of his passing and sorry for the family's loss. He will be remembered fondly. Sandy Kishton
