Matthew Blaze Bedenbaugh, age 18 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at his home. Blaze was a lifelong resident of Lake City and attended Eastside Elementary School where he served as the School President in 5th grade and he also attended Lake City Middle School through the 8th grade. Blaze belonged to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Price Creek Ward. He loved to go hiking and exploring in the woods and would stay gone for hours. Blaze was really into super heroes with Spider Man being his favorite. He created many things with his Legos including cars, super heoes and star wars figures. Blaze enjoyed anything racing, especially dirt late models. He was most recently into graphic designing and gaming. Blaze was preceded in death by his paternal great-grand parents, Arthur and Janie Bedenbaugh and Willie and Bertha Milton; his maternal great-grandfather, John B. Ratliff, Sr.; his maternal great-grandparents, Vivian Kolb and Glen George; and his maternal grandfather, John B. Ratliff, Jr.
Survivors include his father, Clay Bedenbaugh, Lake City; his mother, Alison Bedenbaugh, Lake City; three sisters, Emily Bedenbaugh, Rhianna Ratliff and Summer Bedenbaugh all of Lake City; paternal grandparents, Greg and Judi Bedenbaugh, Lake City; maternal grandmother, Benita Mitchell, Branford; maternal; paternal uncle, Adam Bedenbaugh (Tiffany), Lake City; paternal aunt, Brooke Bedenbaugh, Lake City; maternal uncles, Michael Ratliff, Branford and Alex Ratliff, Mobile, AL; maternal aunt, Elizabeth Ratliff, Ocean Springs, MS; and one niece, Idella Williams, Lake City.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 AM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Bishop Christopher Lowery presiding. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Thursday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center.
