Mateo Vasquez, 59, of Fort White, passed away on January 7, 2022 at the Willis-Knighton Medical Center in Shreveport, LA after a sudden illness. He was born in Las Tablas, Panama on September 19, 1962 and has made the Fort White area his home the last 15 years. He was the owner and operator of Livestock Runner, Inc. and was currently pulling livestock trailers for K&J Livestock Haulers. He was a member of the St. Madeleine Catholic Church in High Springs; and in his spare time, he enjoyed traveling to Panama, listening to Panamanian Music, watching rodeos and eating seafood. He is preceded in death by his father, Mateo Del Carmen Vasquez.
He is survived by his wife of over 29 years, Clara Vasquez of Fort White; children, Roberto Muñoz, Virginia Butler (Nicholas) and Manuel “Manny” Vasquez all of Fort White; mother, Virginia Gonzalez of Fort White; sister, Virginia Rivera (Eric) of Lehigh Acres, FL; half siblings, Tomas Vasquez and Danela Urriola both of Panama. Three grandchildren, Robert Muñoz, Julian Butler and Camila Butler also survive.
A funeral mass for Mr. Vasquez will be conducted on Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at 1:00 P.M. in the Epiphany Catholic Church with Father Bob Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday afternoon, January 18, 2022 from 2:00-5:00 P.M. at Cracker Land & Cattle Company, 295 SE Bailey Street, Lake City, FL, 32024.
