Marjorie Helen (Grant) Edgley, 92, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday morning, January 18, 2022, with family members at her side, after an extended illness. She was born in Zanesville, Ohio on April 22, 1929 to the late Donald and Edith Grant, the eldest of six children. Marrying at 19, on January 29, 1948, she made her home with Floyd Campbell Edgley , living in northern Ohio for 50 years before moving to Lake City, Florida in 1998.
Marjorie cared for many (36) children in the foster care system, as well as working as a Book Keeper and managing a Convenience Store during her “spare time”. Her primary love was focused on her husband, Floyd, and her children; daughter, Judith Lynn (Edgley) Wojtowicz and son, Floyd Thomas Edgley.
Marjorie was a member of the First Full Gospel Church in Lake City, and a follower of Jesus Christ, telling her family and others she met, of the Lord’s love and faithfulness in her life; leading many to follow the path to forgiveness and eternal life. If asked how she wanted to be remembered, Marjorie would say “I love Jesus. He is alive within me. I love my family, I am alive forever more, as Jesus has given me eternal life”.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Don and Edith; her brothers, Kenneth, Donny, Billy and Dickie; and her loving husband, Floyd Campbell.
She is survived by her daughter, Judith Lynn Wojtowicz of Lake City; and her son, Floyd Thomas (Mary) Edgley of Durham, N.C.. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, along with several nieces, completing her extended family.
Marjorie Helen Edgley is laid to rest, with her husband, Floyd Campbell Edgley’s cremated remains in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the First Full Gospel Church, 288 NE Jones Way, Lake City, FL, 32055.
