Marian Hudson Obituary

Marian Inell Shiver Hudson, 95, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, January 11, 2021 at Solaris Healthcare in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Jennings, FL on February 25, 1925 as the 10th of 11 children to the late Isaac Shiver and Hattie Padgett Shiver. She has made Lake City her home since 1948 and was a member of the First Baptist Church. She worked as a Registered Nurse for over 30 years at the Lake City VA Medical Center and kept her RN license up into her 90’s. She also owned and operated the G & H Food Stores with her late husband George Hudson, Sr., for over 49 years. As a people person, one of her favorite things was to connect with people, sharing a smile or laugh, and encouraging them. To her a stranger was a potential friend. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, reading, fishing and traveling. She also loved working in her yard, planting a garden, watching and feeding birds, and catching squirrels. Her cat, Mister Kitty, was a special companion during this past year. When asked about her secret to her long life she would reply with her motto: Live well, Laugh often, Love much and put the Lord first!  She is preceded in death by her husband of over 65 years, George H. Hudson, Sr., daughter, Janis Hudson Lane; grandson, Barry Lane; brothers, Kenneth Shiver, John Shiver and Ike Shiver, Jr.; sisters, Mildred Shiver, Nellie Tyre, Edith Johnson, Christine Bogan, Helen Brand, Ruth Lindauer and Amaryllis Burchette.

She is survived by her son, George H. Hudson, Jr of Lake City; daughters, Margaret “Maggie” Greene (Mike) of Fort White, and Becky Deas (Damon) of Jennings, FL; sister-in-law Melba Shiver; Eight grandchildren, Kathy Lane Schneberger (Joe), Richard Lane (Danielle), David Greene (Nicole), Jessica Greene Finch (Kevin), Codi Hudson, Chrysten Hudson DePratter (Ethan), Daniel Deas (Teirsa) and Zachary Deas (Hannah). Seven great-grandchildren with one on the way and two great-great grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews, cousins, special friends, ‘adopted‘ daughters/granddaughters, caregivers, her church family, and many others who she loved and loved her. The family would also like to give a special thanks to her caregivers at Solaris Health Center.
