Mack Carl Harrison, Sr was called home Sunday, September 5th, 2021, at haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center in Lake City, FL. Mack was born October 4th, 1923, in Albany, GA to W.C. and Mollie Harrison. His family moved to Lake City, FL in Nov 1923 when he was 6 weeks old. He grew up on the farm until he entered the United States Army in 1944 and served in World War II before returning to the USA. He was honorably discharged in 1946 and returned to Lake City. He went to work for the United States Department of Agriculture and served as Director in Callahan and Putnam County. He retired in Palatka, FL December 1985 after 39 years, 9 mos. of service. In 1978 he married Louis Combs and had 30 years together before she was called home in July 2008. Mack enjoyed family and his work with USDA. He enjoyed camping, fishing, woodwork, and being with family. He is preceded in death by his wife, Louis Harrison, his daughter, Eva Beth Harrison, and son-in-law Mike Hodges.
Survivors include his children, Linda Hodges of AZ, Mark (Debbie) Harrison of AL, Mack (Brian) Harrison of AZ, Pam (Jay) Coen of AZ. His stepchildren Judy Maloy (Charles) of FL, Pam Lynch (Hal)of FL, and Jason Dunn of AK. Brother-in-law Hubert (Eufaula) Comb. Mr. Harrison had 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Harrison served many years as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Lake City, was a member of Lake City Masonic Lodge for over 65 years and was a member of Gideons International. A small service was held Thursday, September 9, 2021, at Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Robert Bass pastor of First Baptist Church of Lake City, officiated. A celebration of life will be held in the future in Lake City.
