Kenneth Dale Carr, 83, of Lecanto, Florida, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2021 at the Ocala Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness. He was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on April 23, 1937 to the late Donovan and Mary Jane Butterfield Carr. He was a painter by trade, working for several years with Stokes & Company in Jacksonville and then with the Links Corps Golf Company. He has lived in the Citrus county area for the last15 years, moving there from Steinhatchee. Mr. Carr was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed fishing, gardening, painting, decorating the yard, being with his family and friends and having a “cold one” every afternoon. To know him was to love hime, he never met a stranger; and when you became friends with him, you became a friend for life. He was A US Navy veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict and was a life-long Cubs Baseball fan and FSU Seminole fan. He is preceded in death by his son, Kenneth D. Carr; step-son, Mark Dice and brother, Donovan Carr.
He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Geri H. Carr of Lecanto, FL; son, Richard D. Carr (Dena) of Cedar Island, FL; daughters, Carla Gray (Skipper) of Freeport, FL and Cindy Alvarez of Oxnard, CA; step-daughter, Debi Dice Zakany of Lakeland, FL; brother, Ronnie Carr of Lake Okeechobee, FL and sister, Geni Thompson of Lawrenceville, GA. Fourteen grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren along with numerous family members and friends also survive.
A celebration of life service for Mr. Carr will be conducted on Tuesday, March 9, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Eric Hair officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 P.M. (one hour prior to the services) in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be considered to the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in his honor.
