Julius “JC” Prescott

Julius C. “JC” Prescott, 89, of Wellborn, passed away peacefully on Monday morning, May 22, 2023 at the Haven Hospice – Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City, after a brief illness. He was born in Lake City on October 24, 1933 to the late William Rufus Prescott and Essie Mae Wise Prescott. He has made Wellborn his home for the last 45 years, and was a member of the Wellborn Church of God. He worked as a Ranch Hand with Circle R Ranch for over 45 years and in his spare time, he enjoyed cast net fishing on Shired Island and loved playing the guitar. He loved God and his family and never met a stranger. He is preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Mattie Lou Prescott.

He is survived by his sons, Jeffrey Prescott (Deanna) and Jamie Prescott (Nora) both of Wellborn; daughter, Denise Cone (Gregory) of Middleburg and his brother, Mackey Prescott of Bell. Nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.

A funeral service for Mr. Prescott will be conducted on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Brian Osborn officiating. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M prior to the service at the funeral home.
