Juanita Denise Simon

Juanita Denise Simon, 68 of Lake City, passed away on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City.  She was born in Lake City and was the eighth of nine children to the late James Leroy Strickland and Mary Hester Harper Strickland Cole.  Ms. Simon was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1974 and had lived most of her life in Lake City.  She loved Jesus and was of the Baptist faith and had attended Pine Grove Baptist Church for many years.  Ms Simon enjoyed fishing, riding her bike, taking pictures and volunteered in the kitchen at the Lake City VA Hospital.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and four brothers, Nathan, Leroy, Allen and Mitchell Strickland. 

Survivors include her son, Mose Daniel, Sanderson; four siblings, Irene Strickland, Estes Strickland, Merle Irvin and Jane Strickland all of Lake City; three grandchildren, Kayleigh Johnson, Tyler Daniel and Makayla Daniel all of Sanderson; one great granddaughter, Millie Paige Brinson, Sanderson; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

A memorial service honoring the life of Juanita Denise Simon, will be conducted on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Pastor Justin Griffis officiating.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
