Joyce Newton Heeke

The Heeke family is mourning the loss of their beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great grandmother.  Joyce Newton Heeke passed away on November 14, 2023 at the age of 91.  She will be deeply missed.  Joyce was born in Charleston, South Carolina and grew up nearby in the “Old Village” of Mount Pleasant. She graduated from General William Moultrie High School in 1950. She also graduated from secretarial college. She married Robert Heeke and they spent their lives in South Carolina, Virginia, New York and the last 47 years in Lake City, Florida. Joyce retired from Lake City Community College where she was a secretary and administrative assistant.

She is survived by her husband Robert, sons Richard Heeke (Barbara), Robert Heeke (Janet), Timothy Heeke (Jodi), Michael Heeke (Dawn), Donald Heeke (Robin), and daughter Rebecca Heeke Gomez. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. 

Joyce was a member of Epiphany Catholic Church from 1976 until her passing. She was a member of the Ladies Guild, the Funeral Ministry, and the Altar Society. Services will be conducted at Epiphany on Friday, November 24, 2023. The visitation will begin at 10:00 am in the church narthex with the funeral following at 11:00.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the local VITAS Hospice of Nature Coast through VITAS Community Connection.  https://vitascommunityconnection.org/
