John Robert “Jack” Sullivan, 87, of White Springs, passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019 at the E.T. York Haven Hospice Care Center in Gainesville after an extended illness. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on August 2, 1931 to the late John William and Sybil Catherine Shaffer Sullivan. He has made the White Springs area his home since the 1980’s, moving here from Utah. He was a purchasing agent in the chemical industry for many years and a protestant by faith. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, where he was a representative with the VA Medical Center in Lake City, a past member of the local VFW post, a member of the American Legion Post 57 and a Korean War Veteran. He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He is preceded in death by his daughter; Susan Collins.
He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years; Rebecca Sullivan of White Springs; daughters; Shelly Mortensen (Todd) of Salem, UT, Debbie Neil (Terry) of Payson, UT, Lisa Hatfield (Brent) of Santa Quinn, UT, Misty Mansfield (Russell) of Valdosta, GA and Leeanne Young (Dennis) of Plattville, CO; son; J.D. Sullivan (Willene) of Nashville, GA; stepchildren; Denise Castillo of Jacksonville, FL, Christy Kelley of Lake City and Christopher Jernigan (Shannon) of Lake City. Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends also survive.
The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Tuesday evening, January 29, 2018, from 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
