John William Shannon, 66, of Branford, passed away on Thursday, September 2, 2021 at the Malcolm Randall VA Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Quantico, Virginia on July 5, 1955 to Joyce Marie Shannon and the late Robert C. Shannon. He has made Lake City his home for the past 17 years, moving here from West Palm Beach and was a member of the Kol HaMashiach Messianic Church. He was a US Army Veteran, serving in Korea from 1973 to 1975. He was a loving son and son-in-law, the best brother, a cherished husband, a joyful loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and an awesome uncle, and a loyal friend to many. John was a faithful servant of Spirit of Christ Lutheran, Christ Central and Kol HaMashiach Messianic. He had 33 years of continuous sobriety, was a PADI rescue diver and was a member of the US Military Vets Motorcycle Club.
He is survived by his loving wife, Susan Jolley Shannon; mother, Joyce Marie Shannon; daughter, Jamie Lynann Patrick (Roger Patrick); grandchildren, Harmony Beebe (Cody Beebe), Morgan Pfaff (Adam Pfaff) and Marybeth Patrick (John Jordan); daughter, Jessi Joyce Daman (Cory Daman); grandchildren, Korenn Gerl, Mia Gerl and Brock Daman; daughter, Jodi Rae Milburn (Greg Milburn); grandson, Christian Shannon-Balfour; sisters, Aletha Perona (Andy Perona) and Colleen Thatcher (Taylor Thatcher); nieces and nephews, Amber Perona, Angela Perona and Jaydon Perona. Nine great-grandchildren also survive.
A celebration of life service for John will be conducted on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 2:00 P.M. at Christ Central with Pastor Lonnie Johns, Jerry Yunes and Sommer Yunes officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the services.
