John Tally McLendon, 87 of Lake City, passed away on Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Lake City Medical Center in Lake City. He was born in Belle Glade, Florida to the late Roosevelt McLendon and Blannie Mancil McLendon. Mr. McLendon was a veteran of the United States Army and had been a resident of Lake City since 1989 having moved here from Green Acres, Florida. He retired from Florida Power and Light after many years of service, and then worked for a few years at Itchetucknee Springs State Park in Fort White. Mr. McLendon was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Shirley Sevena McLendon; one son, Randy McLendon; one daughter, Jill Wilkinson; and one grandson, Rickey C. Culpepper.
Survivors include two daughters, Vickie Moore (James), Madison, GA and Tammy D. Kelley, Lake City, FL; seven grandchildren, Jason Culpepper, Jennifer Lindley, Tallie Hamm, Sabrina Cittadino, Tara Wilkinson, Brandon Wilkinson and Chance Moore; and eight great-grandchildren also survive.
Graveside memorial services with military honors will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Lake City, FL.
