John Robert Dortch, 37, of Lake City, passed away on Friday Morning, January 14, 2022. He was born on Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska on February 11, 1984 and has made Lake City his home since 1986. He was a graduate of the 2002 graduating class of Columbia High School and earned his Associates of Science Degree from Lake City Community College, now Florida Gateway College in Physical Therapy Assisting. He was a member of the Hopeful Baptist Church and in his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, watching football and enjoying many different sports. He is preceded in death by his Maternal Grandfather, Spessard Putnal.
He is survived by his mother and father, Lisa and Tim Dortch of Lake City; fiancé of 4 years, Kristina Gilmore (and family) of Lake City; son, Tucker Dortch of Lake Butler; daughter, Mayleigh Dortch of Lake City; sister, Amanda Bryant (Shawn) of Lake City; niece and nephew, Caroliena and Max Bryant; grandparents, Robert and Velma Dortch of Lake City; Betty Dortch of Lake City and Reba Putnal of Mayo; uncles, Mark Putnal & Mike Stalvey (Abby) and families along with many extended family members and friends also survive.
A Celebration of Life service for John will be conducted on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 2:00 P.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rob Burns officiating. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 P.M. prior to the service.
