Johanna G. Nelson, 69, of Lake City, passed away on Sunday morning, May 31, 2020 at the Baya Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lake City after an extended illness. She was born in Mobile, Alabama on March 2, 1951 to the late James L. and Jeanne Poythress Geary. She has made Lake City her home since 1972, moving here from Hialeah, Florida. She was of the Catholic Faith and a Homemaker. In her spare time, she enjoyed bowling, and was a member of a bowling league at one point; loved playing bingo, bunco parties and was a fabulous cook. She was a loving mother and was also a foster mother who loved her family dearly, especially her granddaughter, Chloe. She is preceded in death by her infant son, David Nelson.
She is survived by her loving son, Stephen Nelson (Ginnie) of Lake City; sisters, Jeanne M. Coleman of Lake City, Judi Tannachion (Charles) of Lake City and Joyce Sarno of Michigan. Her loving granddaughter, Chloe Nelson along with several nieces and nephews also survive.
Family graveside services will be held at Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Lake City on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Lewis Daniels and Mrs. Bonnie Page officiating. Interment will follow. Those wishing to attend the graveside services are welcomed to do so.
