JoAnn Theresa Pettigrew, 83 of Lake City, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Solaris Healthcare. She was born in Miami, Florida to the late Alexander J. Goode and Essie Luverne Fillingim Goode. Mrs. Pettigrew had made Lake City her home since 1988 having moved here from Palm Bay, Florida, where she had been a longtime resident. She was of the Baptist faith and was currently attending The Orchard at SouthRidge in Lake City. Mrs. Pettigrew had previously served as the Minister of Music and also the Youth Secretary at the First Baptist Church of Melborne for many years. She was very active with Operation Christmas Child, a project of Samaritans Purse and was a volunteer at the Cradle of Forestry in Pisgah National Forest for 7 years. Mrs. Pettigrew enjoyed crafting, working in her flower garden and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Bob Pettigrew, Lake City; one son, Dan Pettigrew, Lake City; one daughter, Debbie Newkirk (Bill), Hendersonville, NC; three grandchildren, Austin Pettigrew (Kristin), St. Augustine, T.J. Newkirk, Hendersonville, NC and Will Newkirk (Sara), Franklin, NC; and two great-grandchildren, Cooper Pettigrew and Abram Newkirk also survive.
A Celebration of Life for Mrs. Pettigrew will be conducted on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at 2:00 PM at The Orchard at SouthRidge at 162 SW Ridge St., Lake City, FL 32024, with Rev. Eddie Blalock officiating.
