Jerry A. Ogburn, 79 of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at the Haven Hospice Suwannee Valley Care Center in Lake City. He was born in White Springs and was the youngest son to the late Joseph B. “Joe” Ogburn and Margaret “Maggie” Dees Ogburn. Mr. Ogburn was a 1962 graduate of White Springs High School and was a lifelong resident of the Lake City and White Springs communities. He worked for Occidental, later becoming PCS, from 1969 to 2005 retiring as an Electrical Superintendent. Mr. Ogburn was a very talented musician and could play any instrument with strings. He was an active member of Watertown Congregational Methodist Church and has served as the music leader, a Sunday school teacher and on the Board of Stewards. Mr. Ogburn enjoyed hunting, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents; and 8 siblings, Caulie Ogburn, Nettie Davis, Joe Ogburn, Georgia Skinner, Margaret Underwood, Bailey Ogburn, Tank Ogburn and Allie Mae Dinkins.
Survivors include his high school sweetheart and wife of 59 years, Carolyn Stormant Ogburn, Lake City; four children, Regina Waldron, Lake City, Jerry “Jay” Ogburn (Jamie), Hanceville, AL, Jeffrey Ogburn (Joei), Lake City and Joel Ogburn (Ryan), Reunion, FL; one brother, James Ogburn, Tampa; one sister, Martha Brown, High Springs; 8 grandchildren, Ashley, Shawn, Lauren, Leah, Lindsey, Jarred, Jessica and Abbey; 7 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Funeral services for Mr. Ogburn will be conducted on Saturday, January 21, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church with Pastor Randy Ogburn officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in White Springs. A time of visitation with the family will be Friday evening from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Watertown Congregational Methodist Church at 1024 Okinawa Road, Lake City, FL 32055. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice in honor of Mr. Jerry A. Ogburn.
