Jerald Bruce Young

Jerald “Bruce” Young, 75 of Branford, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, May 25, 2023, with his family by his side.  Mr. Young was born and raised in Branford and had recently moved back home in 2021 having spent many years in the Tallahassee area where he raised his family.  He was of the Baptist faith and attended Mt. Paran Baptist Church when able.  Mr. Young was a piddler and always had a project building something outside, and if it set still long enough, he would paint it.  He loved going to the beach and gardening, but above all, he loved spending time with his grandchildren and family.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Montez Young; his father, James Owen Young; four siblings, Mary Jo Adkins, James Dexter Young, Willie Ray Young and Danny Young; and his Uncle and Aunt, TD and Faye Cannon.

Survivors include his mother, Margie Cannon Young, Branford; three children, Kevin Young (Rain), Las Vegas, NV, Grace Renee Maxey (Michael), LaVerkin, UT and Bruce Young (Jessica), Branford; one brother, Eugene Young (Rita), Lake City; two sisters, Wanda Hart (Hyman), Mayo and Peggy Rickett (Ramie), Branford; two sisters-in-law, Shelli Young, Largo and Pat Young, Branford; seven grandchildren, Houston, Madison, Carson, McKenzie, Tyler, Julian and Macelynn; and numerous nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Mr. Young will be conducted on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 3:00 PM at Mt. Paran Baptist Church in Mayo with Bro. Jim Hurst and Mr. Dustin Crews, officiating.  Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Branford.  A time of visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service at the church from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM.
