Mr. James Edward Jenkins, 79, passed away on Friday, March 10, 2023, in the North Florida Regional Medical center in Gainesville, FL. following an extended illness. He is the son of the late Ned and Effie Simmons Jenkins and is preceded in death by one son SGT 1st Class Bryan Andrew Jenkins, and one brother J.L. Jenkins. James had lived in Suwannee County all his life and retired from the Suwannee County Road department, he enjoyed fishing, traveling, boating, working in his yard, and spending time with his family, and his cat “Angel” he was a member of the Corinth Masonic Lodge #93 F&AM for many years and a volunteer fireman for Taylorville fire station.
James is survived by his wife of sixty-two years Louvenia Jenkins, Live Oak, FL; two sons Paul Edward Jenkins (Paula) Lake City, FL; Robert Dean Jenkins, Monroe, LA, one daughter Patty Reeves (James) Wellborn, FL; four brothers Jack Jenkins (Dena) Live Oak, FL; Ervin Jenkins (Linda) Live Oak, FL; Joseph Jenkins (Anne) Live Oak, FL and Jerry Jenkins (Barbara)Lake City, FL; two sisters Shirley Jenkins, Wellborn, FL and Margie Moss (Bob) Live Oak, FL. twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral Services for Mr. James Edward Jenkins will be conducted Wednesday, March 15, 2023, at 2:00 P.M. at Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Paul Rhoden officiating. Visitation with the family will be held one hour prior to service. Interment will follow at Rosemary Cemetery in Live Oak, FL with Masonic Rites.
