Ivonne Drake Obituary

Ms. Ivonne Eubanks Drake passed away on September 10, 2022, at the young age of 70 following a difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was surrounded by her family and released minutes before her 71st birthday. God ushered home a beautiful wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, and friend to many. Ivonne came to know Jesus at a young age and had a personal relationship with Him that never wavered.  She is now restored in heaven with the Father and the Son without the ailments of this world and her family rejoices in knowing that. Ivonne graduated from Columbia High School in 1970 and left Lake City a year later as a military wife in pursuit of her dreams.  She lived in many places along the way but ended up in the beautiful state of Alaska.

She was highly motivated and a dedicated hard worker. Ivonne achieved a B.S. degree in Business Administration, a Master’s degree in Business Organization Management, and a second Master’s degree in Project Management.  Always striving to learn more and improve her skill set and knowledge base for the benefit of her employer and career; she earned many awards and accomplishments in her tenure of working with the government in the Alaska division of the US Army Corps of Engineers. She valued education and work ethic right up there with faith in Jesus Christ and instilled these values in both her sons. Ivonne enjoyed many activities including hiking, skiing, fishing, flying, traveling, shopping, and staying fit. One of her greatest joys was watching her grandchildren grow in the subsistence lifestyle, hunting, and fishing in Alaska.  Florida never left her though and she always loved the beach. A warm-up to the “lower 48” was frequently spent in Orlando at Disney Resort where she delighted in a child-like quality that never left her.  Some of her final adventures with her family were spent on the beaches in Florida, combing the shore for perfect shells and dipping her toes in the ocean...they will be cherished memories for all.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Hardy and Susie O’Neal Eubanks; brothers Eddie AlexEubanks (Moody), Jeffrey Eubanks and Patrick Wayne Eubanks; sisters Willerdene Eubanks and Christine Eubanks (Moody); and a baby brother who passed at birth.

Ivonne is survived by her two sons, William E. Drake III (Alisa), and Travis Hardy Drake (Megan), and her seven grandchildren: Zeke, Bode, Wyatt, Emry, Coen, Deegan, and Decker; Siblings- Rae (Ramona) Eubanks (Norris), Linda Jean Eubanks (Paul), Michael D. Eubanks and Bobby Eubanks; and her childhood sweetheart and father of her children, William E. Drake, Jr. Her legacy of putting God first, working hard, and never giving up is one she leaves behind in her sons and her seven grandchildren.  She will rest in peace with the Lord until we meet in heaven and never be forgotten.
