Ima Jean Wood, 86 of Lake City, passed away on Saturday, June 23, 2018 at her home. She was a native of Phil Campbell, Al., and had resided in Lake City since 1969. Mrs. Wood was the daughter of the late T.J. and Minnie Mae Hutcheson of Phil Campbell, AL. She was an active member of Eastside Baptist Church. In her spare time she enjoyed her grandchildren, sewing, gardening and reading. Ima Jean retired from Columbia County Senior Services after teaching sewing for 32 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Wood; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wood; brothers, Lowell, Owen, Norman, Wallace and Ray Hutcheson; and her sister, Gladys Hutcheson.
Survivors include her two sons, James Jeffery Wood and Harold Douglas Wood (Arlene); one daughter, Judith Lynne Johnson (Ronald Dean); two grandchildren, Joseph Dean Johnson (Shannon) and Leah Kendal Johnson; and one great granddaughter, Larkin Madison-Marie Johnson; five sisters, Julia Vinson and Voncile Davis both of Russellville, AL, Marlene Pounders and Janice Holcomb both of Phil Campbell, AL and Andra Watson, Hobart, IN; one brother, Otis Hutcheson, Phil Campbell, AL; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Hugh Dampier and Rev. William Lawhon officiating. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service on Monday from 2-3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center at 6037 West US Hwy 90, Lake City, FL 32055.
