Hazel Irene Studebaker Delk, 78, of Lake City, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, February 18, 2021 after an extended illness. She was born in Douglas, Georgia on September 1, 1942 to the late Burt and Lorine Lane Studebaker. She grew up in the Sanford, Florida area and moved to Lake City with her Late Husband Ed in 1960. She worked for Metal Products for over 20 years and was a member of the Deep Creek Advent Christain Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed working with puzzle books, canning vegetables and reading. She also enjoyed riding with her husband to visit family and friends and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ed Rivers Delk; sister, Gladys Studebaker Elder; brother, Roger Studebaker and her son-in-law, Dempsey Peel.
She is survived by her children, Athena Peel of Lake Wales and George Allen Delk (Brenda) of Lake City; grandchildren, Lance Rivers Peel (Maggie) of Humansville, MO, Ledia Peel (Jason Geier) of Lake Wales, Jarrett Allen Delk of Lake City and Savannah Nicole Delk of Lake City. Three great-grandchildren, Emillie Geier, Kaylee Geier and Kevin Rivers Geier along with many nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Delk will be conducted on Monday, February 22, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel with Rev. Howard Thomas officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery (US HWY 441 North). The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, February 21, 2021 from 3:00-5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to Haven Hospice of Lake City. CDC guidelines regarding the COVID-19 Pandemic regarding masks and social distancing are encouraged to be followed.
