Harry Paul Lee, Sr., 69, of Lake City, passed away on Thursday evening, January 7, 2021 at the Lake City Medical Center after an extended illness. He was born in Lake City on September 3, 1951 to the late Thetis Brown Lee and Harry Lee. He has been a life-long resident of Lake City and was a member of the Northside Baptist Church here in Lake City. He was a 1969 graduate of Columbia High School, where he was a member of the 1967 Columbia High State Championship Football Team. Harry Paul was one of the First Police Chiefs of Fort White in the 1970’s, from there he went to work for the Lake City Police Department where he retired as an Investigator Sergeant after 20 years. He then went to work for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, where he retired in 2014, serving as a Special Investigator and Bailiff. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his family, especially his grandchildren and extended family, hunting, fishing, and cooking for others. Harry Paul also loved his church family dearly. He is preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Ann Wilks, brother, Richard Lee and father-in-law, Willie Vance “Pops” Wynn.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Lee; sons, Harry Paul Lee, Jr. (Danielle) and Joshua Lee (Samantha); grandchildren, Kolbee, Kamryn, Mason and Clara Lee; mother-in-law, Frances Wynn; his sister, Mary Susan Mobley and his brothers, David, Larry, John, Robert and Clark Lee. Numerous extended family members and friends also survive.
A celebration of life gathering for Harry Paul will be conducted on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at the Gateway-Forest Lawn Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. Private family memorial services will be held following at a later time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be considered to the Northside Baptist Church Building Fund.
