George William Snipes, 68, of Fort White, passed away at his home on Sunday, August 20, 2023. The Orlando native, born on October 14, 1954, and was a 1972 graduate of Boone High School, and attended the University of Central Florida, where he earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice. He has made the Fort White area his home since late 2020 and was a Life Insurance Salesman for many years, working for AIG and United for a number of years. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing and watching the weather. He had a lawn service in his teen years, and was known to mow his yard at any hour of the day. He also enjoyed going to the springs during the summer with his family, loved turtles and gardening. He is preceded in death by both of his parents, George Snipes and Lois Grant Snipes.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Sherry Snipes of Ft. White, FL; daughters, Stacie Snipes of Ft. White, FL and Kacie Snipes of Denver, CO; and his one brother, Curtis A. Snipes of Orlando, FL. Many extended family members and friends also survive.
A funeral service for Mr. Snipes will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gateway-Forest Lawn Memorial Chapel. Interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation beginning at 10:00 A.M. prior to the service at the funeral home.
