Mr. Edgar William Poitevint, 84 of Gilchrist County, passed away on Saturday, March 25, 2023 at the Ayers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Trenton. Mr. Poitevint was born in Cross City, Florida the 5th of 6 children to the late Outler Henry Poitevint and Ruby Corine Yawn. He was raised in Lake City and was a graduate of Columbia High School class of 1956. Following high school Mr. Poitevint served our country in the United States Air Force and was of the Baptist faith. He retired from Crown, Cork and Seal in Orlando after many years of employment. Mr. Poitevint lived for many years in Orlando and following his retirement moved to the family river home on the Santa Fe River in Gilchrist County. He enjoyed being outside, hunting, boating and fishing with his Yorkie “Teddy”. Mr. Poitevint was preceded in death by four siblings, Ben Poitevint, Dallas Poitevint, Grace Lyons and Monta Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Marion C. Poitevint, Branford; two children, Michael Poitevint (Cathy), Dallas, TX and Andrea Carter (Tony), Dunnellon; one sister, Betty Boston, Lake City; four grandchildren, Matthew and Allison Poitevint, Dallas, TX, Sara Courneya (Brandon), Umatilla and David Carter (Caressa), Ocala; three great grandchildren, Brooklyn, Braelynn and Bronx Courneya; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 PM at the Ira Bea’s Oasis Community Park in Gilchrist County on the Santa Fe River with Pastor Simone Fouraker officiating.
