Dorothy Ruth Meloy

Dorothy Ruth Meloy, 84, of Lakeland, passed away on Thursday evening, September 2, 2021 at the Solaris Health Care after a brief illness. She was born in Lakeland on November 29, 1936 to the late William and Zella Meeks. She has lived in the Lake City area for the last year, but had lived here previously with her husband as they pastored a local church. She was a homemaker and a Pastor’s wife, who loved to read her bible and could always be found praying for anyone in need. She loved her family, especially her children and grandchildren; and in her spare time, enjoyed going to the mountains and beach. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Billy, Jimmy, Jerry, Bobby and Ronnie Meeks.

She is survived by her loving husband, Pastor James M. Meloy, Sr. of Lakeland; sons, James “Buddy” Meloy, Jr. (Abby) and Timothy Meloy (Carol); daughters, Linda Massey (Mike) and Melanie Bryant (Scott); and her sister, Marilee McCall. Eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also survive.

A celebration of life service will be conducted on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:30 A.M.in the New Life Christian Fellowship Church, 422 SW Baya Drive, Lake City, FL, 32025 with her son, Pastor Buddy Meloy, officiating.
