Donna Race Obituary

Donna L. Race of Williston, Florida, formerly of St. Johns, Michigan, passed away October 23, 2021 at the age of 88.

Donna was born in Clinton County Michigan on April 2, 1933, to William and Ida (Marten) Schafer. She worked as a Ward Clerk at Clinton Memorial Hospital before retiring and moving “Up North” to Mancelona for a time. She also lived in Newark and Heath, Ohio before moving with her daughter to Florida.

Survivors include her children, Kevin (Barb) Race of Dowagiac, Michigan, Timothy (Carol Gross) Race of St. Johns, Michigan, William (Clara Brown) Race of St. Johns, Michigan, Pamela Race of Heath, Ohio, and Korene (Phil Smith) Clemings of Williston, Florida. Also surviving Donna, is her sister Doris (Jim) O’Connor of Ashley, Michigan, her 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews and several cousins. Donna was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, and both of her parents.

A memorial service and interment will take place in the spring of 2022, in St. Johns, Michigan and at St. Peter Lutheran Church in South Riley, Michigan. Details forthcoming next year.
