Donald “Donnie” Carl Jenkins, was born on June 13, 1977 in Gainesville to Donald Earl Jenkins and the late Ruby Jenkins. Donnie passed away on September 3, 2021 following a brief illness. Donnie graduated from Columbia High School in 1997 and was working as a truck driver for Cal-Maine Foods. A huge part of Donnie’s life was spent mentoring youth in Columbia and surrounding counties. He worked at Columbia Skate Palace for many years and was actively involved with the youth group at Wellborn Baptist Church. Donnie also traveled to Brazil five times on mission trips with a team from Wellborn Baptist Church. In his spare time he enjoyed roller skating, playing pool, fishing, and spending time with his friends and family. Donnie was his dad’s right hand man, a loving father, son, and friend. Donnie was one of a kind and found joy in telling everyone he could about his Jesus.
He is survived by his father, Donald Earl Jenkins, his daughter Paisley Jenkins; sister, Christine (William) Vaughn; brother, Jessie Jenkins; and grandmother, Margaret Julius; nephews, Walter (Crystal) Jenkins and Casey (Katie) Jenkins. Numerous nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
He is preceded in death by his maternal grandfathers, Jessie Harter and Owen Julius as well as his paternal grandparents Patricia and Leroy Sapp.
A memorial service for Donnie will be conducted on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00 pm at Wellborn Baptist Church with Pastor Elmer Crews officiating. He will be assisted by Pastor Mike Taber. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Wellborn Baptist Church Brazil Mission Fund.
